Title: Optical near-field control and nanoscale spectroscopy

Walter Pfeiffer received the Ph.D. in physics from the University of Constance, Germany in 1993 in the field of nuclear solid state physics. In 1994 he joined the Faculty of Physics of the University of W├╝rzburg, Germany, as postdoctoral fellow working in the field of ultrafast laser spectroscopy of surface dynamics. In 2000 he became assistant professor at the University of W├╝rzburg focussing his research in the field of ultrafast nanooptics and time resolved spectroscopy of nanoscale electronic transport phenomena. Since 2006 he is Professor in the Faculty of Physics of the Bielefeld University, Germany. His current research interests include coherent control of electronic excitations, ultrafast nanophotonics, plasmonics, time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy, and molecular optoelectronics.
